The idea of creating software for cross-browser testing came up in the early 2009. At that time all suppliers of web browsers were trying to beat each other about whose product would correspond to the common standards less. It was at that time we decided to simplify the work not only for us, but also to all others who were spending countless hours debugging the templates to make their work easier. As the time progressed, the browsers have somewhat standardized, but despite that the websites displayed in them are not very similar, let alone the same.
With our experience in the web design and the web software development, we have had from the beginning a clear idea about what the Multibrowser is supposed to do and where it can help us.
We did not only want yet another software that would produce screen shot previews in the low resolution and which take several minutes to generate on the server. We did not want to interfere with the browsers itself and their rendering cores with the objective of getting them all into a single application. We wanted a native conduct under all circumstances. We wanted to be able to create and debug directly in the web application, we wanted for the software to include as many tools as possible, which would enable us to work efficiently and from one place.
Multibrowser’s main task is not in the displaying of your project in 50 browsers. The main task is to accelerate the development and optimization of your project for the commonly used browsers as far as it can be done.
Our inspiration was the Firebug, which is distributed as a supplement to the Firefox Internet browser. Since it is very widespread and its use is easy and intuitive, we have tried to adapt the Multibrowser’s behavior and control as much as possible.
Multibrowser is the main software produced by Smarcoms. We have devoted great effort to its development and day-to-day improvement and we are happy about its success and acclaim. We believe that it is a useful tool with a wide application, which will gradually become as popular as the IE Tester was in its time, or what is the Firebug now. We have both the technological facilities and human resources to achieve our objective.
